Fit and Savvy Recipe: A great morning detox smoothie after a fun night out…
After a fun-filled night out on the town, we all occasionally wake up feeling miserable. Those Cosmopolitans or Whiskey Sours give us a fabulous feeling while we’re sipping them, but only cause regret the next morning…So, what’s a girl to do?
Your first objective should be to rehydrate and detoxify, and the following 4-ingredient green smoothie recipe just might do the trick and is easy to whip up. It also helps alkalize your body and is refreshing and tasty to boot.
Karen’s Green Detox Hangover Helper (KGDHH)
Step 1: To begin, you will need the following 3 vegetables:
- 2 stalks of celery
- 1/2 Cucumber
- A few sprigs of parsley
Step 2: Prepare the vegetables for the blender. I usually peel the cucumber (to remove the waxy skin) and then slice up both the cucumber and the celery. You could also chop up the parsley, but it’s probably unnecessary if you have a good blender.
Step 3: Add the chopped veggies to your blender and then add water (the 4th ingredient – about 1 to 1.5 cups). You’re now ready to blend. I personally use the Magic Bullet for making smoothies, and they usually turn out perfectly. I’m sure the Ninja or Vitamix would perform just as well…
Step 4: Blend about 30 seconds or so, until the green detox smoothie reaches the desired consistency. Then pour and enjoy!
Optional Green Smoothie Ingredients
To make this smoothie even more healthy and tasty, you can add any of the following ingredients:
- Cilantro (you could also use as a substitute for parsley–parsley is not for everyone…)
- Ground Flax or Hemp Seed
- Fresh-squeezed lemon or lime juice
- Kelp Powder
- Wheat or Barley Grass Powder
- Spirulina or Chlorella
